Statement from Principal Marten Gomez

marten gomezDear readers, as the principal of St. Augustine’s Senior Secondary School, I regard the efforts of the old students as a new season in the life of the school and I have always held the conviction that the name, image and age of the school is one that needs to touch the minds of those who hold the passion of seeing the school transform into a greater educational status in the country.
The launching of this website by the alumni lets people (especially the past students) feel the tremor and emergence of a realistic consciousness, an wakening of purposeful awareness and that such venture healthily runs in congenial conformity with the belief that collaborative implementation of developmental programmes is one that befits the dream of raising the school into a higher citadel of learning.

I inherited the position of principal at a time when the school had; for some reasons, derailed from its historical integrity and had sunk into the abyss of social discontent. The structures of organized delinquency and deviance are the canker worm; which I have succeeded to curb and now the school is back on the rail.

The name, St. Augustine’s Senior Secondary School covers those who own it, those who take care of it and administer the affairs of the school and those who have come and gone through the school enjoying such benefits of educational training. I have an unshakable belief that by standing on top of our travails, we can usher another lease of glory by replicating the past into a novel, an admirable monolith and pace setter in education; a sign which I see in the launching of the website; as it will help disseminate information to those crops of our St. Augustine’s Alumni across the globe to help make the school into an enviable academic reservoir of learning.

It is nigh; that those who have direct and passionate responsibility of hoisting the name and image of the school tower up in style and help in the process of restoration and phenomenal reorientation especially in our era of contemporary and competitive educational platform.

I have at one time in the past remarked that we are grateful that we steadily assume and continue to revere our school ethos as we use discipline as a bedrock of our growth; which hinges on the principles of valuing all members with an ethical awareness of equality.

On a concluding note, I hope this colossal step by the alumni will be a catalyst for a more historic change and grist to innovation of the school’s development.

Martin Gomez,
Principal.
